DAti ang mga sundalo ang tagapagtanggol ng bansa. Dati iyon pero ngayon I DOUBT!! I still remember when I was in the mall IN cABANATUAN at biglang nawalan ng kuryente, and naghiyawan ang mga tao…and then may isang lalake ang nanakot…INSTEAD OF SAYING…AYAN NA ANG MULTO!! NATAWA AKO NG SINABING AYAN NA ANG MGA SUNDALO. When I was in the market, at may nagpaputok ng labentador sa may kalayuan, I heard a man saying AYAN NA YATA ANG MGA SUNDALO AH (na parang natatakot nga). Naawa ako sa mga walang muwang na kabataan, mga14-17 years old na hindi alam ang gagawin kung paano makuha ng Cedula, because they believe and at the same they are scared DAHIL PAPATAYIN DAW NG MGA SUNDALO ANG WALANG SEDULA.

I have no doubt that soldiers are there to protect our cherish freedom. Kristine is not correct in criticising the military. Her obesrvation is not right as she based her comment on hearsay information. I am from Nueva Ecija too and I have great respect with the soldiers especially those who are based in Fort Magsaysay. Our soldiers have fought and died for the sake of the country and yet their accomplishment had never been given full credit. Our soldier will remain steadfast and dedicated as they swear allegiance to the constitution when they took their role as soldier. They may not be well fed, received less pay but their dedication, patriotism, and bravery in the face of the enemy of the state specifically NPA, terrorist and economic saboteurs should not be taken for granted. It is the soldiers who endure hardship and harsh criticism that we are able to enjoy the freedom that we have now. We should praise and not despise them. It is true that they are being paid to perform their duty and their payment come from us through taxes. But come to think of the role they are playing it is them who risk their lives for the sake of others. No other profession do that, so we should respect them with dignity and enthusiasm. So Kristine instead of despising them thank them for their great contibution to the stability of the nation.

GMA insults every Filipino with brazen acts of corruption and undermining the institutions of government. I’m reminded of Adolf Hitler: “What luck for rulers that men do not think.” Indeed, GMA believes that Filipinos do not think because she’s getting away with almost everything. But I understand the Filipino people’s reluctance to support another regime change despite their belief, as reflected in the polls, that GMA is the worst president this county has ever had since independence. They don’t trust those waiting in the wings to takeover. It’s a mixture of angels and devils: the opposition headed by Erap, the CPP-NPA, rebellious elements of the military and the police, religious messiahs, and a small segment of the middle forces. I believe that the rebellious elements of the military are well intentioned. But should there be regime change now, could they rein in the rest of the military and the police who’ve become enemies of the people and instruments of corruption and repression? I doubt and so do most Filipinos doubt too. This is why that the method of choice for regime change by most Filipinos, again according to the polls, is still democratic election. Most Filipinos are wise after all. Anyway, GMA is history. Twenty months to go and counting.
