YOU SURVIVED SEPTEMBER 26, 2009 FLOOD

September 27, 2009

Why did they open the dam and release water  with only two to three hours notice?

I am fortunate that I cancelled attending our morning meeting saturday morning otherwise perhaps my family would have been worse off. how do we console those family whose loved ones died because of drowning. The one holding the dam switch should not have done it.

rubber boats, every community must have at least five of them they save lives. I learned do not start your car that has been under water because water is surely in your engine. drain your engine of oil, change oil and oil filter, that should work.

SAVE YOUR LIFE AND OTHERS FROM HEART ATTACKS

ABOUT HEART ATTACKS:

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm.

One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as

nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less

frequently.

NOTE :

There may be no pain in the chest during an heart attack.

The majority of people (about 60%) who had an heart attack during

their sleep, did not wake up.   However, if it occurs, the chest pain may

wake you up from your deep sleep.

  If that happens,

IMMEDIATELY DISSOLVE TWO ASPIRINS IN YOUR MOUTH

And swallow them with a bit of water.

Afterwards, phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close

by  and state “HEART ATTACK!!!” and that you have taken 2 ASPIRINS

Take a seat on a chair or sofa and wait for their arrival and

DO NOT LIE DOWN !!!

A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving this

e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably a life can be saved!

I have already shared the information!!!

  What about you?

  Forward this message :

IT MAY SAVE LIVES !!! !!!

We believe that our candidates should not be saddled with the burden of having to raise their own campaign funds, so as to prevent them from being beholden to anyone and to empower them to always act independently for the best interest of the common good. For this reason, Ang Kapatiran has established the Pondo contra sa Trapo (Fund against Traditional Politicians).

ANG KAPATIRAN PARTY- YOUTH SECTOR OPPOSES THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL www.adrian.i.ph

September 22, 2009

22 September 2009

House of Representatives

Constitution Hills, Quezon City, Philippines 1126

To:  The Speaker of the House Hon. Prospero Nograles and all concerned Lower House Committees especially the Committee on Population and Family Relations,

We, the Kapatiran Party-Youth, vehemently requests to be exempted from the representation of the youth-oriented party-list group KABATAAN. This is in lieu of our obvious disparity regarding our stand against the party-list’s position in the currently pending House Bill No. 5043 or better known as the Reproductive Health and Population Development Bill of 2008. Apparently, KABATAAN’s representative Raymond Palatino roots for the passage of the bill’s present content, which we in our group deem detrimental to the Filipino youth once passed and promulgated.

Our group believes in the youth bringing hope and living the true values of life, which includes being pro-life. We find it very disappointing and unfortunate for Palatino and the KABATAAN party-list for patronizing the promulgations of the bill, which in effect agrees to the use of artificial birth control methods, causing harm in every aspect of the person using such. How can young people be born and brought to maturation if the youth party-list like KABATAAN prevents young people to be born in our society that is predicted to reach the zero population growth in two decades? In fact, the CIA factbook writes our birth rate at 1.9 which is below the replacement rate of 2.1.

To support these arguments further, only four (4) out of every ten married couples have more than three (3) children nowadays. Too many are the countries who want children and unfortunately, they are aging beyond redemption like Japan, Singapore, Germany, and most of Europe. Sadly, we are losing our young productive workers to other countries at the rate of three (3) thousand a day. Look at America importing our young immigrants at the rate of 45,000 a year, and Australia having a migration policy to replace its aborted children. We should not play into the hands of those who do not want a shared wealth opportunity rather than blame poverty on the number of children.

On the other hand, the Kapatiran Party-Youth believes in the efficiency of natural family planning methods. The groups also believe that the government should rechannel its efforts to skills development, preserving good family values, and nourishing the quality of life in the country. Several countries envy our high resources of precious raw materials and workforce. This is also another potential that the government should also pay attention to instead of wasting time and effort crafting unneeded laws that would only produce repercussions to the citizens of this country especially the youth.

Therefore, we highly object to be represented by the KABATAAN  party-list if they continue to support this bill. Let it be known also that our group is just but one of the many other youth organizations who are misrepresented by the stand of the said party-list.

ANONG LEADER ANG IBOBOTO FR. JEFF

September 21, 2009

fr. Jeff
________________________

If there’s one thing people are talking, discussing and debating about these past days, it would be about choosing leaders.
Lahat pinag-uusapan kung sino kaya iboboto nila sa darating na eleksyon sa 2010.
Maraming sikat at kilalang tao at politiko ang nagpaparamdam na sa tao at nagsasabing tatakbo sila sa darating na halalan,
mapa-presidente, senador, meyor, congresista, etc.
Choosing leaders is a very demanding and crucial tasks, especially in a world where one nation’s progress or demise depends on who calls the shots, and who holds the reins of power and authority.

But, i believe, that more than just choosing the right persons for the jobs, the main question everybody should be asking is:
what kind of leaders should we have? ano’ng klaseng pinuno ba ang kailangan natin?
It’s not a question of who’s who, it’s a question of character…
And we’re not talking of popularity surveys or big advertisements, we’re talking of qualities and attitudes.

It’s quite coincidental, or maybe it’s more of a blessing, that this weekend’s liturgy (25th Week in Ordinary Time B), presents to us essential qualities we’re supposed to look for in a leader.
They might sound too idealistic or too naive, but i believe it’s better than all the stuff we get to see and hear all around us.

The main point is that leadership is not a matter being ahead of everybody else, or being “larger than life”.
True leadership entails:

  1. A life, not without conflicts or problems, but a life of COURAGE AND RESILIENCE. Let’s face it, we cannot please everybody, as long as we live, we’ll encounter people who think the same way as we do. Leaders who started out as charismatic candidates soon fall short of their admirers’ expectations due to their decisions and actions. There’ll be always critics and detractors. At the same time, even though leaders might have good platforms and plans, problems and crises will always happen, and they do sting a lot! Yet, a good leader should be courageous to stand up for what is true, good and just, even if public opinion won’t agree with them. A good leader should be resilient amidst trouble and problems. Just like the “Just Man” in the first reading (Wisdom 2:12, 17-20). His detractors look out and see how they could trap him and revile him, yet he keeps on going with courage and frimness of faith in God and in his people.
  2. A life, not led by force or violence, but a life of RIGHTEOUSNESS AND PEACE. By being righteous, it’s not the pharisaic righteousness (being “holier than thou”, i’m a better Christian or better Filipino than the rest of the scum). It’s not also a saccahrine politeness that seeks to please and lick the boots of everybody through compromises. It means a life of true inner goodness, amidst the temptations and corruption around us. May pinagkaiba ang pagiging mabait (polite) sa pagiging mabuti (good) as a priest once told me. By peace, it’s more than just going through life without enemies or without conflicts, it’s inner peace and serenity. James tells his community (James 3:16-4:3) that many of their arguments and disagreements flow from their own inner chaos and confusion. Remember the seldom sung 2nd verse of the song “One More Gift”: “Grant me serenity within, for the confusions around are mere reflections of what’s within, what’s within me.”
  3. And, lastly, is not a life spent in the limelight. It’s actually a life of EMPOWERMENT AND ENCOURAGEMENT. When Jesus took the child in their midst (Mark 9:30-37), and presented him as an example of greatness, he was showing to them that there’s true potential of greatness inside the heart of the little kid, it only needs empowerment, encouragement and proper guidance from his elders. In fact, whenever we celebrate the sacrament of baptism, the role of the ninongs and ninangs is not just a social thing, it’s a sign of these guys’ social responsibility to help bring out the best in the life and potentials of the baby being baptized as he/she grows us. Remember your parents, professors, mentors and elders. Remember that, without their guidance, love, discipline and affirmation, you wouldn’t be where you are right now. We need leaders who don’t hog the spotlight with their programs and publicity, we need leaders who help people’s goodness shine out amidst the darkness of our weary world.

May ganon ba’ng leader?
Naniniwala ako’ng meron pa.
Let’s not lose hope and confidence in those courageous, peace-loving and empowered men and women who stand up for what is truly Christian and truly Filipino in our country today.
Let us pray that God may enlighten our minds and hearts, not just in choosing the right leaders, but also empower us to do our part in bringing about the renewal and transformation that our country needs today.
May pag-asa pa ang Pinoy!
May pagpapala para sa Pinoy!
