The news and the debates seem to have cut the number of Presidentiables. You barely see all 8 (now 9) of them. They focus on only Noynoy Aquino,
Manny Villar,
Gibo Teodoro and Dick Gordon.
Are there only 4 of them now? It is funny how media continuously harps on freedom of information. How everyone has a right to know. How we need to get all the information to be able to make sound choices. But really, it is only when it suits them.
The fact that they only focus on 4 of the 9 shows that they are infringing on our own right to know. They are stopping us from getting all the information we need to make sound choices. It doesn’t suit them to have 9 people debating, because it will take up a lot of time, so they are deciding for us. They are going against everything they fight for themselves.
The truth is, there are 9 candidates:

Aside from the top 4, there are Erap Estrada, JC de los Reyes,
Jamby Madrigal,
Eddie Villanueva and
Nicanor Perlas. Sure, they may have low ratings. And yes, we all have our own opinions on them and how they should or should not be running. But that’s the point. We have our opinions. And we have a right to say them. And people have a right to know. And it is medias JOB and MANDATE to let us have all the access to these candidates and information about them. And not just the ones they like to feature.
So let all 9 of them debate. It may take more hours. And more press time. And more sound bytes. But let them debate. Let us see them. And let us make the decisions for ourselves.
